Payton lost her first tooth!

When Payton came out of school today, I noticed her wearing a necklace in the shape of a tooth that I had never seen before. I had to stop her (because she wanted to go bounding off to the playground) to ask what it was.....She lost her first tooth!

Mind you, this tooth has been loose for a month now, and was starting to turn gray. I asked how it happened.

She said she was in LA (language arts) and she was just tapping on it. And it fell between her lower lip and her gums. She extracted it and held it up. Evidently her friend Susan said aloud for the whole class to hear, including Mrs. Chiang, that Payton had lost her tooth. Payton got to go to the nurse and Nurse Pat put it in this handy little tooth necklace - taped shut - so that the precious cargo wouldn't fall out.

Payton seemed amazed that it didn't hurt at all and it didn't bleed.

You can already see the next tooth poking through the gums.

We had a little debate as to where to put the tooth so the Tooth Fairy would find it. She didn't want to sleep on top of it because she thought it might be uncomfortable. So she laid her tooth on top of a separate pillow next to her.

Legoland - Day 3

The day started off at a new beach. This one had a youth surfing contest going on right next to a playground.

I think this is the first playground the kids have been on right next to the ocean. There was also a long pier that we walked down to kill time.

At Legoland, this was Aquarium day for us. The Aquarium wasn't huge, but nicely laid out. 

We hit some of the remaining rides, we hadn't had a chance to get to yet.

The kids went on a ride where they got to drive a car all by themselves. Each child got their Official Legoland Driver's License.

Then we finished up Miniland. Can you guess which cities these are?

We all enjoyed Legoland. I was even surprised at how cool everything was. Ian was sad to leave, and even almost cried as we were about to get in the car to go to the airport.

Dying eggs.

 Easter egg hunt at the church....

 The Easter bunny filled their nests :) It was strange. Payton was the first one up. While she acknowledged the fact that there was stuff in her Easter nest, she didn't go probing through it. Ian on the other hand - there was not stopping him. Once he saw his goodies, that was it. He was all over them.

Why is it always such a hard thing to accomplish?

Our doorbell rang and the kids discovered the Easter bunny had come and hidden our eggs ;)

Day 2

We always had a couple of hours to kill before Legoland opened, so we would drive along the coast and occasionally explore one of the beaches.

Day 2 was actually Payton's birthday and she wanted to do the water park. But it didn't open till noon. One of the things you could do was build a car out of Legos and race it against other kids. Payton tried, but soon gave up. Ian on the other hand tweaked his car several times until he got it to go just the way he wanted. I was very proud of him for being so persistent. 

The water park was fun, but a little cold. The water was warm, but anytime you went from one pool to the other, you were a little chilly. We forgot to take pics of the water park, but afterwards, since we were all still in the getting-wet mood. The kids and Scott did this ride. I tried to shoot them with water canons from the side.

Legoland!

We had an opportunity to go on our first family vacation and we seized it! To Legoland California we went to brave Lego rides, Lego minilands, and greatest of all, Lego mini-Star Wars exhibit.


First, with the two hours time difference, we usually had about two hours to kill before the park opened. We had to survey and plan.....

Of course, we had to go to the Star Wars exhibit first.

Like father, like son...

There were different scenes from all six episodes built out of Legos. They even came to life with movement and sound.

It was all 'pretty cool', as Scott would say :)
