It was color week at school for Payton. So, she had to dress up in orange on Tuesday, green on Wednesday, and yellow on Thursday. Each day, they discussed what things were that color and then during snack time they had a snack that was the color of the day. The snacks were pretty obvious, orange slices, broccoli, and bananas and macaroni and cheese. Yes, macaroni and cheese?!?! Payton didn't eat it. Oma and Opa each got to see Payton's classroom and met her teachers.
On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, Opa and Scott played golf with Scott's boss (the program director for the critical care program!) I asked Scott if he felt like he was skipping school. He grinned really big and said, 'Yeah, with the principal.' :) They had beautiful weather and both had a great time.
We had a cold front move through on Tuesday and it rained all day and was in the 60s. Payton has been asking if it's autumn yet, and if the leaves are changing colors - over and over again. Some leaves are just starting to turn. I'm pretty excited because it's definitely getting cooler and I've never been an area with a true Fall season.
Speaking of Fall, Payton's school had a Fall Festival tonight. It's the school's main fundraiser for the year and we all went. I got a pack of 110 tickets and we ate supper there, let Payton play as many games as she wanted, bought a loaf of bread at the bake sale, and we were still trying to get rid of tickets. They had the usual games: the dunking booth, bean bag toss, ring toss, fishing booth, basketball booth, and the throw a bean bag at Goliath booth. The Goliath booth was for Payton's class. It had a huge head of Goliath that children could use a sling shot or just throw a bean bag at Goliath's head. It didn't matter if you hit him or not - you got a prize. I didn't think to take a picture of Goliath, but you can see him in the picture of Scott and Ian playing basketball. I had to work the booth for half an hour which wasn't too bad. Payton went down the rather large 15 foot inflatable slide. She was starry-eyed all evening and had so much fun. She was almost too excited to eat her pizza when we first got there.
This morning we went to the Children's Museum in Greensboro. The kids had a great time and I think Oma and Opa were impressed.
