I was out in the yard with the kids this afternoon when an evil little yellow jacket decided attack the top of my foot. I swear I had to almost pull him out of my foot. Then I grabbed the kids and ran inside. I didn't see another nest, but I'm keeping an eye out.
What is up with the insect population in this part of the country. And why is it bothering me so much. Everywhere I look there is either a member of the arachnid or other insect family. Spiders, worms, slugs, mosquitoes, flies, ants, squash bugs, moths, praying mantis, beetles....for goodness sakes!
Our air conditioning isn't working. At least the highs have only been around 80 and it's getting into the low 60s at night. A repairman is coming on Tuesday to look at it and hopefully fix it.

you guys should take advantage of it and start a little bug collection and learn about them all. I loved catching them when I was a kid, especially the katy-dids. (sp?)
I've started taking pictures of some of them and I have a special folder on my computer labeled 'bugs'.
