What's bugging you?

There's a Backyardigans episode called What's bugging you? in which two of the characters (Tyrone and Uniqua) are exterminators trying to rid one of their friends' (Tasha's ) house of wormans because she wants to be part of the Spiffy Club. The wormans multiply throughout the episode and reek havoc on the house until Tasha is sure she has no chance of becoming part of the Spiffy Club. In the end, the wormans actually turn out to be very nice house guests who clean up after themselves and Tasha is accepted into her prized club.

When we moved here, I knew that this area was notorious for its allergies, but I had no idea it was a bug mecca! The insects and arachnids in this place are creeping me out a little bit. Spider webs show up everywhere - in the bushes, every nook and cranny you can find in the garage the front porch, and the deck. There is a huge web going from the top of my house to the bushes below! I haven't seen that spider yet and I don't want to. Of course, there are mosquitoes - poor Payton attracts them even if she's wearing bug spray. But, it's not just mosquitoes and spiders. The other night I found a slug and a crawly thing reminiscent of a centipede, but the legs were longer and the body shorter and flatter. Then, of course, there are the garden bugs. Squash bugs, aphids, ants, bees, wasps, pill bugs....the list goes on and on. The one cool bug that I don't mind is the praying mantis we saw the other day on the eggplant. I wish he would have stayed longer.

Why can't these bugs be like the wormans - come clean up my house. Then I would be most welcoming. I know some bugs are good, but enough is enough.

Gee, I forgot about all the bugs. It seemed when we moved to Texas there were the ants, cockroaches, geckos, and of course, mosquitoes. I guess each part of the world as its pests. Boy, I hope insects don't take over the world. Their population already overwelms us. By the way, if it is any comfort, as I remember, the spiders and their webs seem to blossum the most in the approaching fall season. Did you see comments below?
